New EU Dog Transportation Laws

TRANSPORTATION OF DOGS IN EUROPE: 23rd May 2013 In 2010 the European Union Commission issued a regulation concerning the non commercial transportation of pet animals (dogs, cats and ferrets) within and into the EU. The purpose of this regulation was to strictly limit the possibility to transport many dogs for commercial purposes and consequently stop trafficking of young animals, mainly puppies, between breeding countries and users countries. This regulation had an important side effect on our sport activities as it imposed administrative and expensive burden on our individual members who wanted to travel with many dogs. The ESDRA has immediately been hard at it trying to convince the EU of the problems this regulation was generating for our activities. At that time we managed to obtain some clarifications but no real improvement. The EU Commission has now amended the regulation.
